Amazingly sad, I had to perform the reaserch for this post ultilizing, in the Google search engine, the words "soccer history", for when I typed "football history" all that showed up were websites about the history of American Football.
Going on, the origin of football may be encountered in mostly any part of the world, long as 3,000 years ago, in ancient Greece and Italy, and also in Latin American countries. But the so ultimately beloved sport really began to take shape in England.
In 1863, the association football and rugby football association was split in two. That is when the first Football Association was founded, where eleven groups and clubs in London sent their representatives to a meeting in a place called the Freemason's Tavern and there decided which would be the rules of the game and made the sport official.
By 1871, the FA held the first association football competition ever, called the FA Cup, in which different clubs of all standards were able to participate. Manchester United is most successful club considering the FA Cup, winning it eleven times, while the current holder of the Cup, Chelsea, are on their fifth victory still.

Sorry we Americans have messed everything up. I'm stuck in my ways referring to futebol as soccer, but the rest of the world has good reasons for calling it football.
