On September 9, 2009, after a nearly 22-year wait, digitally remastered versions of all of The Beatles' studio albums were released. Each album features the track listings and artwork as it was originally released in the U.K. and come with expanded booklets including original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each of the Fab Four’s 12 proper albums will be “embedded” with a brief documentary about their making. The rereleases will include the Beatles’ 12 studio albums and Magical Mystery Tour as well as Past Masters Vol. I and II, which will be packaged as one collection. All 14 discs will be available with DVDs of the documentaries in a stereo box set, and a set titled The Beatles in Mono featuring 10 discs will be included.
Now, is this good or bad? It seems amazing for The Beatles fans. Who have all of their original disks. And completely don’t need all of their songs, because they already have them. And if this new version is so badly desired, they can download them for free on illegal mp3 download programs.
Of course there’s always the other hand. The sound quality is better, and the boxes are nice and Beatleesque. The pictures inside them are rarely revealed and one can listen to the Fab Four’s voices whenever they want, by playing the documentaries. Hidden messages in and the true meanings of the songs are dictated by the brilliant minds of the beloved rock geniuses.
Concluding, the nostalgic edition that reproduces all of The Beatles’ masterpieces may not be necessary and end up having illegal easy acces, but the preppiness and never-seen-or-heard-before features excite the fans and interest the new technological generations of Today.
